Less than a year ago, from the LogMeIn blog:
LogMeIn Free is and will remain free
Yesterday, from the LogMeIn blog:
LogMeIn’s free remote access product, LogMeIn Free, is going away.
The FAQs include this doublespeak gem:
In order to address the evolving needs of our customers, we will be unifying our portfolio of free and premium remote access products into a paid-only offering.

Because “customers needs” include them paying for products.
Seriously though I have no problem paying (I had Pro, Ignition and Hamachi subs), but charging consumers who access home machines once in a while and don’t need advanced feature the Pro levels/prices is a bit too much.
I too, have paid LogMeIn a handsome some of money over the last few years, but I still have a couple of PCs in my free account that I only occasionally need to access. It wouldn’t be worth it to me to pay anything more than a dollar or two a month to keep access to them.
I’m sure the smart people at LogMeIn have done the maths, but if I’m not using their free product for anything, I’ll be less likely to recommend their paid product to friends, family, or customers.
Exactly my point. LogMeIn was THE product I recommended on Geekzone, because it was the product I used for ten years and had experience with. Not anymore, so they lose a paying customer and a referral.
